Ted Chandler served as the Senior Managing Director – Strategic Initiatives of the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) and was instrumental in launching HIT’s community investment initiatives prior to retiring in 2023. Mr. Chandler is currently a consultant to the HIT and has 34 years of experience in housing finance and community development, including 15 years with Fannie Mae and six years with the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA).

Mr. Chandler serves on the Board of national nonprofit American Reinvestment Corporation (ARC), which partners with grassroot organizations to support job readiness programs in low-income communities.  He previously served on the boards of Heartland Capital Strategies, National Housing Conference, Taubman Center for State and Local Government at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and Los Angeles-based affordable housing developer Abode Communities; and is a founder and Director Emeritus of the California Housing Consortium.

Mr. Chandler holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and a Juris Doctor from Stanford University Law School.
