The Norma Herr Center is a transformational $35.3 million project that will
renovate the existing 23,775 square-foot facility and construct a new adjacent 26,650 square-foot building, creating a 50,425 square-foot modern emergency shelter campus in Cleveland, Ohio. The project will replace 165 congregate shelter beds with 201 modern, non-congregate rooms, creating a safer, more dignified environment for those experiencing homelessness.
Located in one of Cleveland’s most deeply distressed communities, where 51.4% of residents live in poverty, the Center will provide low-barrier emergency shelter to approximately 2,300 individuals and families annually.
The project is led by EDEN, a nonprofit dedicated to creating housing solutions for individuals and families facing housing insecurity. The YWCA Greater Cleveland is anticipated to oversee operations. Strongly supported by the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, the Norma Herr Center is an integral component of the County’s strategic approach to addressing homelessness and strengthening its response infrastructure.
